Application Deadline: December 12, 2011

Sage Paul is seeking five jewelry and accessory designers to create work for the label’s Men’s and Women’s fall 2012 collection. The selected designers/artists will be commissioned to create up to three pieces of jewelry or accessories for the Sage Paul fall 2012 editorial photoshoot, Fashion Show and online store.

The fall 2012 Collection is centered around Migration and Relocation and examines the adaptation of being in a new and an unfamiliar environment, particularly for Indigenous people and our cultural adaptation, to see how traditional or natural materials and ideas can be used with an industrial approach. Artists are encouraged to be creative with the selection and use of their materials and techniques. The project(s) must be realistic in scope and achievable – this could include, but is not limited to earrings, necklaces, bracelets, shoes, hats, gloves, bags, scarves, hair pieces, etc. Final work must be completed by February 6, 2011.

Artists must have experience working with their proposed materials and techniques. Artists must finance the creation of their projects, and will receive royalties upon the sale of their work (wholesale and/or retail); working closely with the artists, the Sage Paul team will promote and manage sales transactions. Artists will also have the opportunity to showcase a selection of their work at the fall 2012 show and will be featured on the Sage Paul website along with a biography, a hyperlink to their website (if available) and their contact information.

The commissioned work will be exclusive to Sage Paul, showcased during the fall 2012 fashion show in March 2012 and available for purchase at the Sage Paul website in August 2012.  The costs to manufacture orders will be the financial responsibility of the artist; inventory will be determined as per consultation. Profits from sale of the work will go to the artist.

Your application must include:

  • Maximum one-page description with additional basic sketches for up to three jewelry pieces. This should clearly describe and illustrate your project idea and include the price range of each piece;
  • A half to one-page statement on why you would like to participate;
  • Your biography, including your Indigenous affiliation;
  • Three samples (hyperlinks to or PDFs/JPGs) of previous works; and,
  • Contact info including email, mailing address and phone number.
